He was born on May 24, 1980 in Plainview, New York. He received BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University. He also taught online courses on computer science and biotechnology.

He co-founded Counsyl, a genetic testing company that screened for Mendelian diseases, which was acquired by Myriad Genetics for $375 million in 2018. He also co-founded Teleport, a job search engine that was acquired by Topia in 2017.

He joined Andreessen Horowitz as a general partner in 2013 and invested in many successful tech companies and crypto protocols. He also co-founded 21 Inc, a Bitcoin mining startup that later pivoted to Earn.com, a platform that allowed users to earn digital currency by replying to emails. Earn.com was acquired by Coinbase in 2018 and Srinivasan became its first CTO. He left Coinbase in 2019.
