It’s essential to save your game often to survive in this game. Remember, you can’t save your game directly from the menu; you have to construct a shelter first. How to save your game Sons of the Forest by building a shelter?
Materials Required:
- 1 Reflective Tarp
- 1 Stick
Step 1: Gather Materials
At the beginning of the game, scavenge the containers at the helicopter crash site to find a reflective tarp. Look for a stick on the ground, which is plentiful once you’ve descended to a lower altitude and left the snowy starter area.
Step 2: Building the Shelter
a. Pick up a stick when you come across one.
b. Press the “I” key to open your inventory and select the tarp located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
c. Hold the tarp in your hand and search for a suitable location on the ground. Use the Q and R keys to rotate the square outline as needed.
d. When you’ve found the right spot, left-click to place the tarp on the ground.
Step 3: Assembling the Shelter
a. Move close to one corner of the tarp until a white, dotted-line arrow pointing up appears.
b. Left-click again to prop up that corner of the tarp with the stick you picked up earlier.
c. Congratulations! You’ve successfully built a shelter.
Step 4: Saving Your Game
You can save your game and sleep at the shelter by:
- Moving close to the shelter and holding the “E” key to save.
- Holding the “Z” key to sleep.
Additional Tips:
- You can prop up the other corners of the shelter with additional sticks if desired, but it’s not necessary.
- Once you’ve built a shelter, it will appear on your GPS map as a house icon, allowing you to easily locate it.
- To move the shelter, use your axe to smash the stick. The tarp will fold itself up, allowing you to add it back to your inventory. This process is quick and straightforward.
