Nasir Adderley was born on May 31, 1997, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the third cousin of Herb Adderley, a Hall of Fame cornerback who played for the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. Nasir attended Great Valley High School, where he excelled in football and track and field. He received multiple scholarship offers from Division I schools but ultimately chose to play for Delaware, a Division I FCS school.
During his time at Delaware, Nasir played both cornerback and safety for the Blue Hens. He served as a four-year starter and a two-time team captain. Nasir concluded his college career with impressive statistics: 264 tackles, 11 interceptions, 24 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and two touchdowns. He earned First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in his junior and senior years and received an invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl.
In the 2019 NFL Draft, Nasir was considered one of the top safety prospects in his class. He caught the attention of scouts due to his athleticism, versatility, ball skills, and leadership qualities.
